It’s that time of year again. It’s Blaugust.

For those not already in the know, Blaugust is a month-long event centered around blogging. It originally began as a 31 day challenge created by Belghast of Tales of the Aggronaut wherein participants would try to post something every single day of August. However, in recent years it has become more of a community event to bring bloggers together, and encourage creativity.

As I’m sure some of you have already gathered, I intended to participate again this year. I found last year’s event to be a very effective motivator for continuing to write – so much so that it pulled me out of a several month writing slump. I’ve even continued to use the different techniques I wrote about in last year’s lessons learned post to keep things chugging along here on Frostilyte Writes.

That said, I feel like my participation last year was very inwardly focused. I managed to find my spark for writing, but I wasn’t super aware of the rest of the community. I also feel like I’ve been interacting less, and less with other bloggers, in general, over the last several months. To that end, I’d like to embrace some more of those community aspects of Blaugust this year, instead of focusing solely on my own creative output. However, I have no idea how I’ll go about doing that, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something. Perhaps it could be as simple as writing more comments on the posts that I’ve read. I always enjoy when I get comments on my posts, so it might be nice to pass that feeling along to others.

If you want to get involved in Blaugust yourself, here is Bel’s introductory post for this year’s event, and here is the media kit. It’s not too late to join. We’d love to have more folks along for the ride.

Thank you for reading, and good luck to all of the other Blaugust participants this year.
